Uptown is a vibrant commercial and residential district located two miles southwest of Downtown Minneapolis. The neighborhood is conveniently located, with access to I-35W, I-394, I-94, and MN-100 within a short drive. Adjacent to Bde Maka Ska and Lake of the Isles, Uptown is also a popular recreation area.

Uptown includes the Hennepin Avenue Corridor that leads from Hennepin & Lake to Downtown Minneapolis, as well as the Lyndale Avenue Corridor leading to the distinctive Lyn-Lake business node. Within one mile of Hennepin & Lake, there are over 35,000 residents in over 19,000 households and 11,000 employees, with a median resident age of 31 years. Uptown’s housing stock ranges from mansions overlooking Uptown’s two lakes, to a variety of single family homes, duplexes, and multi-family buildings from the 1910s-1920s and 1950s-2000s.

The Uptown business community is a mixture of independent owner-operated stores, franchise stores, and regional and national operators. The business base is diverse with substantial consumer choice within each business category.
