Community Profile
Adjacent to downtown Minneapolis, this neighborhood is a part of the historic Warehouse District of Minneapolis. In recent years, the North Loop neighborhood is the fastest growing neighborhood in Minneapolis. This former industrial area reemerged as an art scene in the 1980s, and today it is a modern urban district with an exciting restaurant and retail scene, and a growing office population. The neighborhood is characterized by the six to eight story high warehouses built in many different architectural styles, including the Chicago Commercial, Queen Anne, Italianate, Richardsonian Romanesque, and Classical Revival styles. The recent boom that has transformed the neighborhood began in the late 1990’s, jump-starting the popularity of North Loop that has continued to attract development since the 2008 downturn.
Recent Trends
North Loop is one of the most explosively growing neighborhoods in our region, opening up new retail, commercial, and residential opportunities. Businesses both new and old are thriving in this area, and its proximity to amenities, transportation options, and downtown make it a very attractive place to live, work, and play. We look forward to helping create one of Minneapolis’ next great vibrant neighborhoods.
